ECEA NEWS
Dear ECEA Members,
We did it! After a long, hot day in
August, we finally wrapped up the
2008 show season. Judge Dawn Frye
was very complimentary about our
club, the quality of horses, and the
congeniality of our membership. Even
though the show season has ended,
however, we still have many irons in
the fire. Be sure to read through
this newsletter to find out about
all the upcoming events such as the
youth’s fundraiser show on
September 20, the year-end
awards banquet on
October 18, and the youth’s
year-end camping trip on
October 10.
A big thank you goes out to all the
members, competitors, volunteers,
judges, show Moms and Dads, and
others who helped make this show
series continue to be one of the
best quality horse shows around.
I hope to see everyone at the
banquet!

HOOF BEAT
AWARDS BANQUET
The 2008 ECEA Awards Banquet will be
hosted by the Flying Dollar Ranch on
Saturday, October 18 at 4:30 p.m.
All of the year-end awards earned at
the horse show, the youth’s
participation awards, and additional
special awards will be presented at
this banquet. The event will be
catered.
Please see the banquet flyer
enclosed for more information and
details and please RSVP if you will
be attending the banquet.
2009 Officers
If there is anyone wishing to run
for an officer or
board of director position,
you should submit your intent to run
in writing by
September 1. Ballots will
then be mailed to the general
membership and new officers
announced at the awards banquet in
October. The club needs all the help
it can get to keep up a successful
organization, so please consider
helping in leadership
responsibilities!
ECEA YOUTH NEWS
Fun show:
The Ellis County Equine Youth
Association will host its annual
Fundraiser and Fun Show on
September 20, 2008, at the Flying
Dollar Ranch in Italy, Texas. The
show will begin at 9 a.m. and
include halter, western, yearling,
English and speed events. The show
is limited to youth ages 18 and
under. No formal show clothes are
required. It's a great place to
practice, learn to show, or just
have a good time with your horse and
other horse kids. A variety of
prizes will be given away by drawing
throughout the day to all who enter
the show. All the proceeds from the
event go to the youth fund which
pays for the Jessup sportsmanship
buckle, participation trophies and a
field trip. The youth continue to
seek prizes and sponsorships for
drawing. Lonnie Page of Page Quarter
Horses will be the judge. Please
call Julie Hinz at
972-483-7774 for more
information.
Check out the flyer in this issue of
Hoofprints for details regarding the
Youth Fundraiser and Fun Show. If
you would like to donate an item to
the prize table, or a monetary
donation to the youth fund, contact
Julie Hinz or Tracey Friedmann, or
just bring it the morning of the
show.
A big thank you goes out to the
following people and businesses for
contributing cash or prizes toward
the youth show:
Remax Realty of DeSoto
Leslie Linscheid Family
Flying Dollar Ranch
Ellis Co. Home Inspections
Lou Bell
John and Tracey Friedmann
Donna Weisberge Training Stables
Youth members, if you haven’t come
to a meeting yet, that is okay. But
we do need help recruiting prizes
for the show. Call Julie Hinz
(972) 483-7774 for more
information.
Year End
Field Trip:
The youth have decided to hold their
year-end camping field trip at Quail
Hollow Farm in Wills Point. The farm
features 10 miles of woodsy trails,
fishing ponds, a covered arena,
camping sites with electrical and
water hookups, and pens and stalls
for your horses. The soil is sandy
and trails are fairly easy so shoes
on your horses are not required for
this ride. We will be spending two
nights and going Columbus Day
weekend October 10 and 11. The state
parks booked up really fast on us.
What we need is to get an idea of
how many families and the number of
horses that are going so ECEA can
make the deposit. We usually leave
Friday after school and return
Sunday. This trip is paid for
(camping sites, horse pens, and some
meals) by the youth fund and youth
families are welcome to attend. To
see pictures of the place, you can
go to
www.quailhollowfarm.com.
I don't have everyone's email so
pass the word along and get back to
Julie Hinz if you are interested.
Please e-mail Julie Hinz or call her
at 972-483-7774.
