PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Horse Buddies, 

Well, the time is near. Show season is here! Ready or not, here it comes! I’m afraid we are still wading through mud around my place, so my bunch might be a little rusty at the first show. Thank goodness for the warm-up show! Everybody make plans to shake off the cobwebs at the March 27, ECEA Warm-Up Show. Books open at 8 a.m. and the show will start at 9 a.m. There will be no trail classes at the show. We will, however, have a bareback equitation jackpot class! 

It is a busy time of year and many club activities are being scheduled for 2010. Be sure to continue to check the website and read your newsletters thoroughly to stay updated on events.

Thank you to all of our new sponsors that have signed up so far. And thanks to the committee chairpersons and members who have volunteered to help with ECEA activities this year. There are many volunteer opportunities available to meet the 6-hour award requirement. Please contact an officer or committee member to see how you can help our club stay successful!

And also remember that all memberships officially expired in December. Please go to our website at www.elliscountyequine.org and download a new application if you have not done this already. THIS WILL BE YOUR LAST NEWSLETTER FROM A 2009 MEMBERSHIP!

The youth group will meet for the first time in 2010 to elect officers and plan for a new year at 1 p.m. on March 6 at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy. Following the meeting the youth will have an open ride, mounted games, and trail ride. This will be held in conjunction with the Silver Spurs 4-H Club of Ellis County. All horses must have a current negative coggins. All riders will be required to sign a release and wear a protective riding helmet.

July 24 Buckle Series (double judged) – Mystic Acres in Terrell, Judges Lonnie Page & Reggie Barnett

August 21 – Youth Fundraiser Show – Flying Dollar Ranch, Italy, Judge TBA 

General Membership Meeting

ECEA General Membership and Board of Director Meetings are held the third Thursday of every month at the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The next scheduled meeting is March 18.
