PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Horse Buddies,

It feels so good, after two rain-outs, to have two shows behind us! Welcome to our many new members as well as the seasoned ECEA veterans who have participated in the Buckle Series at Mystic Acres this year. It’s been fun so far!

Remember we give Top 5 awards in each age division of both disciplines (English and Western) as well as a grand and reserve for each age division of halter as well as yearling performance, leadline and walk and whoa. There are MANY prizes still up for grabs, but you must participate in 3 of the 5 shows to win! So please make plans to join us in July. All of the points and standings are posted on our website at www.elliscountyequine.com 

A big thank you to Donna Weisberg for leading and teaching the trail ride clinic at C-Bar Ranch in May. Wow! I think every horse and rider that participated came out better than they went in. At times it was challenging, and there were a few scary moments along the way, but what an accomplishment it felt like to make it safely back to the trailer! Hopefully we will schedule a few more organized ECEA rides for the fall if club members are interested in doing so. 

Mark your calendars for the ECEA Awards Banquet which will be Saturday, October 2 at Lakeview Camp in Waxahachie. All of the year-end Buckle Series awards as well as special awards will be presented at that time. 

Please remember that we need help in many areas at all of the shows and events. 6 hours per participant is required for year-end awards. Call show manager Becky at 972-977-2058 to volunteer please. Hope to see everybody at the next show!

ECEYA Youth are busy planning the Youth Fundraiser Show to be held August 21 at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy. This is a very fun, schooling show, with lots of prizes awarded by drawings. The youth are currently soliciting donations from individuals and business for small, horsey type prizes. Proceeds from this show help pay for the youth’s participation awards, Jessup Sportsmanship buckle and a year-end camping field trip.

 General Membership Meeting

ECEA General Membership and Board of Director Meetings are held the third Thursday of every month at the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The next scheduled meeting is July 15. (FYI- there is a chance the July meeting will be at Cancun’s Restaurant if I can talk everybody into it!)
